Philanthropy is our philosophy.
In the same way a Lupoli home naturally integrates materials from the region into a home in harmony with the environment, so has John integrated his life and family into the fabric of the Highlands community.
In the spring of 2012, the Lupoli family and the Highlands community said good-bye to John’s father, John Lupoli, Sr.; he was 92. John Sr. and his wife Florence were educators in Miami and began spending summers in Highlands in the 1950s. After retiring from the public school system, they moved to the mountains and purchased Colonial Pines Inn, which they operated for more than 12 years. During the summers, they hosted the Highlands Playhouse cast and crew for dinner almost nightly. In 1999, the Town of Highlands Chamber of Commerce honored the couple with the Robert B. DuPree Award for Outstanding Community Service. They volunteered at their beloved Mountain Findings, and it was under their leadership that the organization was able to serve 21 non-profits and distribute more than $70,000 locally- a record at the time. It’s therefore easy to see where their son John’s commitment to philanthropy began.
